Values

ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation anchors its institutional values on the six principles of Equity, Truth, Harmony, Integrity, Compassion and Stewardship or ETHICS. These six principles should be lived on a day to day basis in the policies, procedures and practices of all Bayan personnel. They should be internalized in the hearts and minds of everyone but externalized in their acts and deeds. All must be conscious that values are not idealized concepts but a way of life. Everyone must be a role model, an exemplar of there six values.

Equity—being partial to disadvantaged communities and endeavoring to improve their social and economic well being.

Truth—openness to all possibilities but the discernment to choose the best option according to what is good for all.

Harmony—the ability to function as one synergistic organization where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Integrity—conducting ourselves professionally.

Compassion—love for the communities we serve as cornucopias nourishers of their social, economic, and spiritual lives.

Stewardship—being totally accountable and responsible for the resources and duties entrusted to us.

Where we are

History

• In 1993, ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. (AFI), funded a microcredit project for 25 poor women and mothers in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

• Noting an ever-growing support for the project, AFI launched Bayan Microfinance as a full development program in May 1997.

• Starting with 2 branches in Zambales and Quezon City, ABS-CBN Bayan Microfinance expanded its operations in Bauang, La Union with the help of Bauang Private Power Plant and ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation.

• Due to the success and widespread support for the project, the program was aggressively pursued. Bayan Microfinance officially became ABS-CBN Bayan Microfinance Foundation, Inc. registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a separate non-stock, non-profit organization on January 18, 2000.

• In 2001, the foundation was renamed ABS-CBN BAYAN FOUNDATION, INC. because it also provides non-financial services.

• In April 2006, Bayan was reorganized to rigorously push the strategies of microenterprise development for wealth creation; training of people in communities on entrepreneurship in cooperation with corporations, academe and various government agencies; and the strengthening of families through livelihood and entrepreneurship training intervention. These approaches were anchored upon the aim of creating a deeper impact in the lives of the families it serves.

• Today, ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation is a social development institution that emphasizes entrepreneurship, community development, education, values formation and family strengthening.
