The
Citi
Microenterprise Development Center is an enterprise
development program launched in 2011 with the Bayan
Academy for Social Entrepreneurship and Human Resource
Development. The center aims to initially train
approximately 300 high potential microfinance clients by
offering them the Grassroots Entrepreneurshp Management
Course and Small Business Advisory and Coaching Services
(SBACS).
The program seeks to develop the business skills and
knowledge of microentrepreneurs through an intensive
course on entrepreneurship that covers self mastery,
personal finance, marketing, accounting, human
resources, and operations management. The participants
have the option of attending additional coaching
sessions with a pool of experts in the SBACS sessions.
Citi Philippines’ support of this program is in line
with its advocacy in building a bridge between
microfinance and microenterprise development, with the
hope that high potential microfinance clients will be
able to make the leap to a small-sized enterprise. The
program goals are to have 70% of its participants
achieve an increase in income and employ additional
workers.
