ABS-CBN Bayan partners with Well-Family Foundation

ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation’s mission is to give opportunities for self-employment among the poor to improve their families' living conditions. But the organization cannot do it alone; it needs like-minded p artners and networks to carry out its mission that will benefit a significant number of beneficiaries and communities.

Just recently, ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation partnered with the Well-Family Midwife Clinic Partnership Foundation, Inc. (WPFI), a national organization that nurtures a network of community-based clinics and health service providers. The organization ensures family wellness through family planning and maternal and child care services.

“Both of us acknowledge that promoting the general health condition of Filipinos is a joint responsibility of the public and private sectors.

With the partnership, we aim to ensure effectiveness and sustainability of the Well-Family Midwife Clinic (WFMCs), manage the Franchise System of WFMC brand, deliver the essential services including research and development, training and organizational development needs of WFMCs,” said Dr. Eduardo A. Morato, Jr., president of ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation.

ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation will also assist WPFI in designing a Philanthropic Package and Management Program with an objective of creating a “Trust Fund” for the sustainability of the clinics’ operation. The fund will also help open new clinics and achieve the target of 1,000 clinics in the Philippines by 2009 and for training the WPFI clients, midwives and NGO conduits.

“This partnership is very timely considering that there is a crisis in the Philippine health sector primarily due to the continuing deployment of Filipino doctors abroad, or doctors enrolling in nursing. The absence of doctors in many municipalities in the country contributes to the persistence of poverty in both urban and rural areas,” said Warlito C. Vicente, MD, Board of Trustee President of WPFI.
