Simon of Cyrene Went to

Bayan Academy for an

Exposure Study

A Start of a Meaningful Partnership…

A meaningful and fruitful day shone on May 19, 2011 between Bayan Academy and Simon of Cyrene Children’s Rehabilitation and Development Foundation, Inc. when the latter went to the former for an exposure study. Bayan Academy welcomed the Simon of Cyrene’s Board of Trustees and management staff who came to Bayan Academy as a part of their 29th Anniversary Celebration. During this celebration, Simon of Cyrene visited partner organizations based in Manila to support its new direction for the 2011-2015 strategic goals. One of which is to be a Training Institute for Leadership and Research, which they want to explore partnership with Bayan Academy. Initial agreements were made that Bayan Academy will be providing related services and programs in Bicol through Simon of Cyrene.
 
   

Bayan Academy was represented by its President and ABS-CBS Bayan Foundation Executive Director, Prof. Raul IE Manikan. Simon of Cyrene, on the other hand was headed by Ms. Myra M. Montallana, the BOT Chairperson and President, and Ms. Cherrie O. Oringo, Executive Director. Mr. Philip S. Felipe, Bayan Academy Managing Director, and Ms. Charizze A. Fernando were also present during Prof. Manikan’s presentation of Bayan Academy’s program to entertain queries from the board of trustees and staff. During Prof. Manikan’s talk, he said that the key to a successful training institute is the build-up of intelligence capital.

Simon of Cyrene is a non-stock, non-profit organization based in Banag, Daraga, Albay, carrying the social mission to promote the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the community through its Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program. Whilst, Bayan Academy is the Corporate Social Responsibility of ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation Inc. which aims to democratize entrepreneurship offering entrepreneurship, management and education training programs for likeminded organizations, as well as livelihood and skills training courses. With shared vision and mission, these two partner organizations will surely come a long way in taking part in uplifting the lives of the Filipino people, particularly in the Bicol region.

 

  The enthusiastic BOT and staff as Bayan Academy opens the Culinary Arts Room for ocular visit. In total, there were 7 BOT and 19 staff who visited                Bayan Academy.
